YYA: 15th May, Sharing Night on Friday!

Our second Sharing Night is this Friday! It’ll be on the topic “How can we be a Christ Centered Church?”.

Date: Friday 15 May
Time: 7pm – 9.30pm
Place: MCCC English Service Chapel

Come at 7pm to enjoy dinner in the company of brothers and sisters in Christ. As usual, all are welcome! This will be followed by Bible reading and small group sharing based on the topic, as well as prayer afterwards. It will be a great opportunity for us to reflect on how we can focus on Christ as a church body in light of our recent studies on the Book of Revelation.

As always for sharing nights, dinner will be provided (gold coin donation is welcomed).

P.S. The worksheets for the week after (22/5) are uploaded and there’s an additional commentary on Daniel 7 for the lesson, so it’ll be great to read it before the Bible study on the 22nd! =)

6th March – YYA Friday Night

We just celebrated our 29th anniversary for the MCCC English Service today, with yummy food and cake! =P Great fellowship was had. =)

It’s already been 3 weeks into Youth and Young Adults (YYA) this year! We’ve learnt about the context of Revelation, and been encouraged to always remember our first love and have love for God and others as our motivator in everything, as well as to persevere in following Jesus, no matter what sufferings and persecutions in this life we meet, as we have an eternal, imperishable reward in heaven – eternal perfect and good fellowship with God!

We also played a fun pulse game in which each person emulated a neuron haha (thanks Andy!) Can’t wait for sharing night on the 20th March where we play more games, have fellowship and pray with one another!

As usual, the roster and worksheets are on their respective pages from the main menu up top. =) Hope to see you all on Friday!!

What’s Next?

My my my, time has surely gone by fast as this year is quickly coming to an end!

The Final Sharing Night held last Friday was indeed a great way to wrap up everything that we have learnt in the bible studies this year.  Firstly, thank you to Peter, Andy and Matthieu who poured sweat and tears (not literally) in preparing the delicious curry – in which they cooked a storm in the church kitchen from 2pm to 7pm!  Secondly, it was really awesome seeing everyone participating in the skit activity, which was based on the themes that were learnt from the books of Ruth, Ecclesiastes and Esther.  It was hilarious seeing  how each team’s skit incorporated some sort of Barbecue event that involved singing hymns.  Finally, the night concluded with a group sharing.  It was extremely encouraging just to listen to how each of us has grown spiritually, what we may have learnt through the lessons, or even what we are thankful for.

Although bible studies have officially concluded for the year, do not fret; as Friday nights are still running!!!! The MCCES Christmas Celebration Night is fast approaching on Saturday the 13th of December! Starting from tonight, the next few Friday Nights (21/11, 28/11, 5/12, 12/12) will be spent in preparation for the Christmas Celebration Night.  The preparation nights will start as usual at 8pm with worship, following with a group prayer, then divided into preparation for the carols instrumental, choir and also crafts.  Supper will also be provided, so you do not have to worry about going home with your tummy grumbling!

I really hope to see you there tonight!

Philip.

MCCC Dinner & Sharing Night #3 – ‘Count your Blessings’

Image

What have you been thankful for recently?
How have you seen God work during challenging times?

It is often easy for us to forget the simple blessings God has given us, such as a simple meal or a roof over our heads. Why not take some time out and reflect on how God has blessed us, maybe it’s a new heater or a holiday.  Even if you might be going through challenging times, God works, so let us reflect on how God is working in our lives?

Come escape the winter weather and join us for dinner at 7pm on the 21st of June, before we dive into a fun night of sharing and discussion on the topic of ‘Counting your Blessings’ at 7.45pm. The night will conclude at 9.10pm. Please feel free to stay back and hang out with us at MCCC (Melbourne Chinese Christian Church).

There is also an optional gold coin donation for those coming for dinner to help cover costs.

When: 7pm for dinner, 7:45pm for sharing and discussion
Where: Melbourne Chinese Christian Church (29 Summerhill Rd, Glen Iris)

Hope to see you there!

MCCC Dinner & Sharing Night #2 – ‘Priorities’

Image

What are your current priorities at the moment?
What does God expect your priorities to be?
How can we please God better?

Everyone has their own set of priorities. We put important things first ahead of other less important or not-so-urgent matters. It’s like a to-do list that we constantly uphold, but as Christians how should we better prioritise our life in a way that is most pleasing to God?

Been thinking about these issues? You’re welcomed to come join us for dinner at 7pm before we dive into a fun night of sharing and discussion about our priorities in life at 7.45pm. The night will end at 9,10pm but please feel free to stay back and hang with us because at MCCC (Melbourne Chinese Christian Church) we love to stay up late on a Friday night.

See you then!

MCCC Dinner & Sharing Night #1 – Media, Pop Culture and Christianity

Image

How do media and pop culture influence us?

How does it dictate our self-worth?

And how does it affect our relationship with God?

Media has become an incredibly powerful tool in today’s age. In fact it’s quite rare for us to not see digital screens and daily. Its prevalence in this world impacts our attitudes and our decisions, and even our behaviour towards others – but how should Christians respond when what media is telling us may not be pleasing to God?

Come! You’re welcome join us for dinner at 7pm before we dive into a night of sharing and discussion beginning at 7:45pm. We will conclude by 9:10pm but please do stay back if you’d like because, well, we like to hang out at MCCC. Especially on Friday nights.

See you then!
